Girl Talk With Nellie's

I was the project manager of a team of four other Centennial CCPR students who organized and hosted a cozy fundraiser on Dec. 3, 2018. The event was held in support of Nellie's Shelter, a charity that supports women and their children facing poverty, homelessnes and leaving violent situations. Our challenge was to create the event on a budget of zero.

We had two excellent guest speakers: Marcia McClung, granddaughter of Nellie McClung as well as Lola Olawo, a mental health speaker. 

It was an amazing turnout with attendees including Centennial College faculty and students, friends, family and local media. We featured a mug decorating table and had a performance from singer Lynn Davidson. We also had over $2500 worth of silent auction and raffle prizes.

I was responsible for securing the speakers and performers. The majority of securing and confirming sponsorship was done through my outreach.

We met our goal of raising $1500 for the charity. We can’t thank everyone enough for their support as well as the Centennial CCPR program for such an amazing experience!
